Edgardo Cervano-Soto is a filmmaker and storyteller in Oakland, California. For over 10 years, Edgardo has worked in documentary film and television as an editor, co-editor, and assistant editor. Previously, he was a freelance reporter and photographer in the Bay Area reporting stories including immigrant rights, the school-to-prison pipeline, and the arts. The documentary form is foundational to Edgardo’s career.
His first feature as co-editor, A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks, garnered wide acclaim and received three 2022 News and Doc Emmy nominations including Best Documentary and Outstanding Editing.
Edgardo's current endeavor involves environmental conservation and the preservation of cultural history and experiences from a queer first-generation U.S Latinx perspective. 
He was born and raised in the Bay Area - Richmond and San Pablo; graduated from Stanford University; and developed his editing chops in New York City. Oakland is his home base. 
Oak trees, archives, and hand-drawn maps are his current inspirations.
